‘We’re gutted’ – Spraoi and Waterford Harvest Festival fall foul of Covid-19 once more
Organisers of Waterford’s Sproai and Harvest Festival have announced the events planned for next month have had to be called off.
The decision was made following the release of updated COVID-19 guidelines earlier this week, with organisers saying: “The news will come as a huge disappointment to the public and local businesses.”
With the stricter limits imposed on the numbers that could attend outdoor events, reduced from 200 to 15, organisers felt the programme of events was “no longer feasible.”
In a statement released Spraoi Director T.V. Honan admitted all involved are bitterly disappointed to have to cancel the events.
“I am very proud of our board, management, staff, artists, volunteers, funders, sponsors and stakeholders.
“Each gave everything they had towards the goal of staging Spraoi Time 2020, as did Harvest and Council teams.
“Sadly in the end it wasn’t enough. It’s fair to say we’re gutted,” Mr Honan concluded.
Spraoi does however aim to install a series of decorative pieces at various city centre locations during the original festival dates, September 4-13.
