WEEKEND WEATHER: Sunny start for Waterford, but clouds loom on the horizon

It’s going to be a beautiful bright and sunny start to the weekend in Waterford as we dig in for another few days of partial lockdown.

But cloudy spells and a few scattered showers, some heavy, are liekly to rain on our parade in self-isolation later in the weekend. And it’s set to get cooler next week, with temperatures returning to normal for this time of year.

Met Éireann said this morning will again be dry with sunny spells, with temperatures rising by up to 20 degrees.

But the national forecaster warned: “Cloud will build over Munster and Connacht during the day with some showers developing, possibly heavy in Munster. Another warm day with highs of 17 to 20 degrees, cooler near the east coasts with light easterly or variable breezes.”

Tomorrow will bring a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Most areas will be dry, and the east and south is likely to escape the scattered showers forecast for the west of the country.

Met Éireann added: “Another warm day with highs of 16 to 20 degrees. Winds will generally be light and variable. Sea breezes wil keep things cooler along coasts.”

Sunday will generally be cloudier, but we can look forward to some sunny spells too.

“A noticeably cooler day with highs only reaching to 12 to 15 degrees, in a moderate northwest breeze,” the national forecaster said.

Indications for early next week are a bit of a mixed bag, with Monday and Tuesday set to be mostly cloudy but with some sunny spells.
