WEATHER UPDATE: Tramore Prom closed as Storm Ciara approaches
Waterford Council has closed the Prom in Tramore as heavy winds battered Waterford today.
In a tweet earlier today, Waterford City and County Council confirmed: “Due to high winds and high tides the prom in Tramore will be closed today. It will re-open again on Monday.”
A Status Orange wind warning for the entire country will come into effect at 5am tomorrow and will remain in place until midday.
Strong southwest winds reaching mean speeds of 65-80km/h are expected with gusts reaching up to 130km/h.
Met Éireann has also warned that a combination of Spring Tides and high seas as well as stormy conditions will result in a significant risk of coastal flooding.
A Yellow rain warning is also in place nationwide from midday today until 3pm tomorrow with 20-40mm of rain expected.
