Waterford’s Whitfield Clinic owners buy hospital in Kildare

The US based operator of the Whitfield Clinic in Waterford is expanding its Irish reach by buying a hospital in county Kildare.

UPMC has confirmed it has bought Clane General Hospital in partnership with the Institute of Eye Surgery (IOES), and will be called UPMC Kildare Hospital.

This is the latest venture into the Irish Market by UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medial Centre). Apart from owning Whitfield Clinic, it has entered into partnerships with the Bon Secours Hospital groups, which has sites in Dublin and Cork, while in 2016 UPMC bought Barringtons Hospital in Limerick.
