Waterford’s ‘Marathon Man’ swims from Giant’s Causeway to Tramore, raising €16k for charities
A Waterford man has swam from Giant’s Causeway off the coast of country Antrim all the way to his native county, raising €16,000 for charity in the process.
Alan Corcoran, dubbed Waterford’s ‘Marathon Man’ swam up to six hours a day to complete the impressive feat, covering 500kms in two months. He covered 30kms in one single swim.
Alan’s heroic efforts have benefited two charities. He was presented with a cheque for €15,990.14, with the funds going to the Irish Heart Foundation and Solas Cancer Support Centre.
Alan took the challenge in memory of his father, the former FAI President Milo Cocoran, who suffered a stroke in 2011 and subsequently died of cancer in 2016.
