Waterford special community school gets go-ahead for significant expansion
A community special school in county Waterford has been given the go ahead for a much-needed extension.
St John’s Special School on the Youghal Road in Dungarvan has been granted permission for a two-storey extension which will meet the needs of children with learning disabilities going forward.
Under the approved plans, there school will construct a new two-storey building onto the West and South of the existing school.
The significant project, close to 7,000 sq feet in total space, will see the provision of additional classrooms, multi-sensory, para-educational rooms, activity space, admin offices along with stairs, lift, toilets and ancillary offices, stores
St. John’s is a special school for Children with a Mild or Moderate General Learning Disability, with separate classes for children with a Severe/Profound General Learning Disability.
It and caters for boys and girls aged between four and 18-years-old. St John’s covers a wide catchment area, with students attending from West Waterford, South Tipperary and East Cork.
