Waterford Senator confirms he attended controversial golf event in breach of Covid-19 guidlelines
Waterford Senator John Cummins has confirmed he attended the controversial golfing event that resulted in the resignation of Agriculture Minister Dara Callearly this morning.
The Irish Examiner last night reported that more than 80 people attended the Oireachtas Golf Society event in Galway – just 24 hours after new Covid-19 guidelines were issued.
In a statement to WLR, Senator Cummins apologised for his attendance, describing it as “a lapse in judgement for which I genuinely apologise unreservedly”.
Senator Cummins did not respond to queries for further comment from WaterfordNow.ie this morning.
