Waterford school unveils plans for new autism unit
A primary school in county Waterford has applied for permission to create an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) unit.
The Board of Management of Fenor National School near Tramore has sought permission from Waterford and City Council to build an extension onto the existing school building.
The proposal would see the construction of a single storey building comprising two classrooms with associated ancillary accommodations, a central activities room, a multi-sensory room, a new office, a resource room, staff toilets and a link corridor to the existing school.
The plans also call for the installation of roof mounted photovoltaic solar panels, as well as a new carpark.
Fenor National school currently caters for over 160 students, both boys and girls.
A decision on the application is expected by the end of January 2021.
