Waterford passengers treated to very festive welcome at Cork Airport
Waterford passengers travelling through Cork Airport this Christmas are being treated to a very festive welcome!
The airport kicked off its seasonal entertainment recently, with over 1,200 performers – including 900 students from a variety of schools along with traditional Choral, Gospel and Men’s Shed choirs and orchestras – performing festive songs to the delight of passengers and staff.
Performances will take every morning, some afternoons and each weekend on a specially commissioned festive stage adorned with Nutcrackers in the arrivals area at Cork Airport right up until Christmas Eve. There will also be a special performance by some of the cast members from The Everyman Theatre’s Christmas pantomime Jack & The Beanstalk.
Cork Airport’s Managing Director, Niall MacCarthy said: “Cork Airport is a very special and magical place at Christmas time for the almost one hundred thousand passengers travelling through the airport this Christmas from all over the world for the festive period. Staff at Cork Airport get so much pleasure on seeing such happy and smiling faces re-uniting with family, friends and loved ones for the holidays. Planning for our Christmas programme starts as early as August and this year is our biggest and best-ever programme.”
Passenger numbers this year through Cork Airport are set to reach 2.6 million, up 8% on 2018, making it the island of Ireland’s fastest growing airport last year.
