Well-known family of Waterford jewellers retire from business, store to continue under new management
It’s the end of an era for Waterford city-centre after a highly respected family of jewellers announced they are retiring from the business.
After 68 years trading in the city, the Kniesel family has decided to call it a day. But it’s not the end of their legacy, as their iconic store on John Roberts Square will continue to operate under existing manager Lisa Statham and her husband Lee.
In a statement on social media, Georgie Kneisel confirmed: “After years of dedication building our family business and seeing it through countless ups and downs, it is with mixed emotions that I announce that our family will be retiring from the jewellery business.
“The great news is, we are delighted to announce that our manager Lisa Statham and her husband Lee will be taking over the business and that trading will continue as normal. Lisa has been trained in all aspects of the business by my mum Joanie over the last 15 years and this feels like a natural progression for us.
“To our loyal customers, be assured when you arrive in store you will find the same quality brands, luxury jewellery and the professional service and knowledge you have come to expect. Myself and my family will always be hugely grateful to all our customers for their constant support, trust and confidence over the last 68 years.”
