Waterford fundraiser falls foul of new restrictions as RNLI Helvick Swim cancelled
The RNLI Helvick Swim has been cancelled due to the introduction of new Covid-19 restrictions introduced by the Government.
“Following the Government’s announcement on August 18 in relation to revised Covid-19 restrictions we are left with no option but to regretfully cancel the 2020 RNLI Helvick Sponsored Swim which was scheduled for Sunday September 13,” RNLI Dungarvan & Helvick Head Hon Fundraising Chairman Kevin O’Morchoe said.
“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our swimmers who had registered to take part and all support volunteers including the kayakers.
“Although it was going to be a smaller event this year, it would have been nice not to break with tradition and host our 26th Annual Helvick Swim. However, it is sadly not to be,” he added.
“A big thank you to all who have supported us down through the years. Your contribution ensures our volunteers maintain our lifesaving services at sea 24-7-365. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.
“Here’s to a wonderful and successful RNLI Helvick Swim, BBQ & Dog Show returning in 2021” he said.
