Waterford Councillor narrowly misses out in Seanad Éireann election bid
Waterford councillor Joe Conway has failed in his bid to be elected to Seanad Éireann.
The Independent councillor from Tramore was eliminated on the 13th count late last night.
He was looking to gain a seat on the Cultural and Educational panel in the Oireachtas’s lower house.
Although polling the sixth highest number of votes in the first round, Conway failed to pick up sufficient transfers and was eliminated while in eight place.
The are five seats on the Cultural and Educational panel all of which are expected to be filled by the end of the day.
