Waterford Council overlooked at national Local Government Awards
Waterford City and County Council is one of just a handful of local authorities not to be nominated for this year’s an Excellence in Local Government Awards.
Chambers Ireland, in conjunction with the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government this week revealed the shortlist for the 2020, but Waterford Council does not feature this year.
The awards feature a total of 86 projects from local authorities shortlisted over 16 categories. Each of Waterford’s neighbouring local authorities have been nominated in at least one category. The Waterford Council is also the only local authority in Munster not shortlisted.
Ten out of 31 local authorities failed to pick up a nomination in this year’s awards. The others are Dublin City Council, South Dublin, Carlow, Laois, Westmeath, Louth, Galway City and County, Leitrim and Roscommon.
Now in its 17th year, the Local Government Awards highlight the vital work done by local authorities in communities around the country. The winners will be announced on Thursday, November 26.
