WATCH: Waterford hikers reminded to stay safe on mountains as rescue team release video celebrating 500 operations

A team of local heroes including some brave souls from Waterford were given a bit of the Hollywood treatment recently and the fruits of that experience has just landed online.

To celebrate the 500th operation carried out by the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA), Land Rover came to Ireland and made a special video highlighting the relationship between SEMRA and the off-roaders over the years.

Shot earlier this year in the Galtee Mountains in county Tipperary, the video gives great insight into the workings of Serma and the support provided by their off-road fleet.

SEMRA purchased a standard Land Rover Discovery a few years ago and made some minor amendments to it to allow for extra storage and ground clearance.

The world famous brand came to the South East to film this relationship in anticipation of the 500 milestone and the vehicle which has helped the team reach and rescue casualties over the year, saving lives in the process.
