WATCH: Flood waters rise right up to platforms at Waterford train station

Plunkett Rail Station in Waterford was shut down this morning due to rising flood waters – and these pictures show how both the used and closed down line were submerged under several feet of water.

Shortly before 1o am this morning Irish Rail announced they would be closing the station due to rising flood waters.  Bus transfers to Thomastown, the next stop on the Waterford to Dublin line, for affected passengers.

Photos from the station show both both railing lines under three or four feet of water, almost coming over the platforms.

There is no word on when the station will be operational again, but Irish Rail is providing regular updates for commuters.
