WATCH: Waterford as you’ve never seen it before – inside city’s landmark North Quays development
A highly detailed virtual tour of the €350 million North Quays Redevelopment has been released providing an up-close and personal vision of what could be the most significant development in Waterford’s modern history.
Earlier this week Falcon Real Estate Development Ireland lodged their planning application for the North Quays regeneration project and Michael Street Shopping Centre, which they say will create over 2,900 permanent jobs and a further 4,500 indirect jobs.
Following that submission, Falcon released a comprehensive walk-through video providing a virtual tour of the new development and an idea of the footprint the project will leave on the city from various viewing points.
Falcon say their vision is “to create a new focus for Waterford city and a destination that is firmly integrated with the local community, offering opportunities for living, working and socializing [sic]”.
According to the developers, the North Quays project will include the following:
*Over eight hectares of urban regeneration on a south-facing 1km quayside waterfront in the city-centre;
*A seven storey twin block comprising 15,000 square metres of “prime office space adjacent to the city’s train and bus station”;
*Five residential buildings ranging in height from 7 to 17 storeys, with 300 riverside apartments to accommodate 500 to 600 residents;
*A 15-storey 220-room 4-star hotel and conference centre;
*An extensive open public space designed “to attract visitors from Waterford, the surrounding areas and international tourists”;
*A modern and “multi-nodal sustainable” transport hub;
*A mixed use commercial building destination comprising “tourism, retail, food and beverage and leisure”.
