Visitor restrictions at University Hospital Waterford over ‘infection control concerns’

Visitor restrictions remain in place at University Hospital Waterford (UHW) due to “infection control concerns”.

A spokesperson for UHW said in a statement: “This is in the interest of patient care and in order to prevent the spread of infections within the hospital.”

Hospital management have requested that any patients attending the hospital for outpatient appointments to attend on their own where possible.

The hospital said: “A number of elective surgeries have been cancelled and affected patients will be contacted directly by the hospital and rescheduled as soon as possible.

“We regret any inconvenience caused to patients and relatives by these necessary measures, which are being taken in the interest of patient care. All infection control measures are in place and every effort is being made to manage and contain the spread of infection.”
