Two arrested after €23,000 of controlled drugs found in car in Waterford city

Two men were arrested in Waterford after gardai seized €23,000 of prescription drugs during a search of a vehicle in the city.
Gardai were conducting patrols in St John’s Park when they stopped and searched the vehicle at around 11.40pm last night.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed: “A quantity of alprazolam tablets were seized with an estimated street value of €23,000 (subject to analysis). Two men (late-30s and youth) were arrested and are currently detained at Waterford Garda station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.”
Gardai added investigations “are ongoing”.
