Swim ban at some of Waterford’s most popular beaches over water quality fears

Waterford City and County Council has announced a swimming ban is now in place at some of the our best known beachers amid concerns over water quality.

In a short statement, the local authroity confirmed the ban currently affects Tramore Beach, Newtown Cove, Dunmore – Councillors and Main Beach – and Boatstrand.

The council said: “Following on from our earlier advisory, water quality is now not suitable for swimming and hence there is a bathing prohibition in place until further notice.”
