Second weather warning issued in just 24 hours

Met Éireann has issued a second status yellow rainfall warning in just 24 hours.

Although Waterford is not specifically covered by the alert the county is expected to be hit by very heavy downpours over the next few hours.

Heavy rain bringing accumulations of up to 20mm in upland areas is forecast for the counties covered by the alert – Galway, Mayo, Clare, Kerry and Limerick – which is in place until midnight.

It is expected to be mostly cloudy on Sunday morning with showers or longer spells of rain.

Drier conditions with sunny spells will develop for a time in afternoon before another band of rain spreads from the southwest later in the day.

Highs of 10 to 12 Celsius in moderate to fresh and gusty west to northwest winds, which will become light to moderate south to southwest in the afternoon before strengthening again in the southwest after dark..
