Sadness as one of Waterford’s most popular entertainers departs the stage

One of Waterford’s most popular entertainers, the legendary Dick Hayes, has died.

The 74-year-old was a co-founder of Dick, Dave ‘n’ Us, one of Waterford’s most enduring acts down through the years.

He also appeared on the popular Voice of Ireland programme in 2012 along with his son Richie.

His death notice describes Dick as “loving husband of Nancy, much loved father of David, John and Richard”. It adds he will be “sadly missed by his daughters-in-law Sharon, Erica and Elaine, grandchildren Adam, Dean, Molly May, Josh and Taylor, his sisters, brother, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends”.

The entertainer’s funeral will take place at the Holy Family Church on Luke Wadding Stree at 12pm on Sunday, with burial afterwards in Ballybricken Cemetery.
