Sadness as one of Waterford’s best-known businessmen passes after short illness ‘he bore with great dignity’

Warm tributes have been paid to one of Waterford’s best-known businessmen, who passed away after a short illness.

Tom O’Donohoe, the founder and Managing Director of Strand Travel Worldchoice on George’s Street in the city, died on Wednesday in hospital.

In a moving tribute, Tom’s colleagues expressed their “tremendous sadness” at the passing of their “managing director, colleague and good friend”.

They added: “Tom passed away yesterday 22nd April, in hospital after a short illness which he bore with great dignity, courage and positive attitude.

“We would like to express our sincere condolences to Tom’s family. You will be sadly missed Tom … rest in peace.”
