Retiring Waterford TDs to share €1.75 million pension payout
Retiring Waterford TDs are set to benefit from a pension pot worth close to €1.8 million.
Former Fine Gael TD John Deasy and junior minister and Independent TD John Halligan are the two Waterford politicians set to benefit from a €22 million windfall for 17 TDs who will not be seeking re-election in the upcoming general election.
The Irish Independent today reports that John Deasy is to receive a once-off payment of €126,359 and an annual pension of over €42,120, resulting in a total package of €1,053,739.
John Halligan is to receive a once-off lump sum of €63,179 and an annual pension of €21,060, resulting in an overall package of €755,588
Former Taoiseach Enda Kenny, who’s has been a member of Dáil Eireann for 42 years, will receive an annual payment of €46,800, on top of the lump sum of €140,400, resulting in an overall package of €3,250,978.
