Rent supplement boost for tenants hit by Covid-19 crisis welcomed by Waterford TD
A Waterford TD has welcomed the Government’s shortened rent supplement application for those affected economically by the coronavirus crisis.
However, local Sinn Féin poll topper David Cullinane said he would like to see it advertised more.
Deputy Cullinane commended the Department of Social Protection for creating a simplyfied and shortened eight-page rent supplement application form, essential for people whose economic circumstances have changed as an effect of the coronavirus emergency.
Now Deputy Cullinane (pictured below) wants the Department to get the message out to the public that there is assistance there for them.
“The publication of a shorter 8-page rent supplement by the Department is welcome,” Deputy Cullinane said:
“It should make it easier for people who need to apply for rent supplement to help cover their rent due to the impact of COVID 19.
“The supplement is available to renters in difficulty with their rent due to Covid, income or job losses except for Council tenants and those on HAP.
“However, the government must to more to promote this and to let people know that it readily available.”
