Parents warned after boy approached by man on Waterford bus
Parents in Waterford are being urged to think twice about leaving their children travel alone following a disturbing incident in which a teenager was allegedly inappropriately approached by an older man.
The alleged incident occurred yesterday evening when 15-year-old boy was waiting to get on the 6.45pm bus to Waterford from the terminal in Tramore.
The boy went to the upper deck of the bus which was empty and sat in a seat. It was claimed that moments later a man in his 40s also went to the upper deck and then sat in the same seat as the boy.
It is then alleged the man asked inappropriate questions of the boy, including: “did he do dirty things to girls?”
The boy’s mother subsequently took to social media, saying her son was “so uncomfortable” but managed to get off the bus in Waterford. She said the man didn’t follow him.
She said she wanted to make other parents aware of the incident and that she would be contacting gardai.
The concerned mother also urged parents to “please tell your kids what to do in a situation like this”.
WaterfordNow.ie has contacted gardai in Tramore in relation to the incident.
