On track: new Sunday train service from Waterford to Dublin
A new Sunday evening rail service from Waterford begun today.
Irish Rail last week confirmed the extra Sunday service to the capital from 5.45pm, which stops at counties Carlow and Kildare but by-passes Thomastown and Kilkenny’s MacDonagh Station.
The move comes after widespread complaints from commuters about overcrowding on trains on the line, particularly at peak times and over the weekends.
Irish Rail said on Twitter: “Due to high demand on Waterford services on Sunday, November 10, the following extra services will also operate on this date: 17.30 Waterford to Heuston and 19.45 Heuston to Waterford.
“Pre-booking online is advised to ensure travel.”
