Nice try! Waterford school scoops €10,000 in rugby competition

A Waterford school has just scored a cool €10,000 in a nationwide competition they try-ed very hard to win.

Scoil Choill Mhic Thomaisin in Rossmore, Kilmacthomas, is one of 10 primary schools across the country that received €10,000 from ALDI and the IRFU as part of their ‘ALDI Play Rugby’ sticker competition, launched earlier this year.

The school can now use the €10,000 it received on sports equipment or on its sports facilities.

Former Ireland and Munster hero Paul O’Connell, who is Aldi’s Play Rugby Ambassador, said: “This year has presented huge challenges for parents, teachers and students alike and it is highlighted I think the importance of sport for our wellbeing irrespective of our age. Congratulations to all the schools that took part.”

The overall winners were Tara Hill National School, in Gorey, county Wexford and Scoil Naomh Bríd, Kiltegan, county Wicklow, who both received €50,000 for their ‘ efforts.
