More people signing off Live Register in Waterford despite pandemic: new figures
More than 350 people signed off the Live Register in Waterford last month, despite being in the grip of a recession brought on by the pandemic.
However, new figures published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) this morning reveal there are still 450 more people in Waterford on the register currently than when the Covid-19 crisis started in Ireland back in March.
According the the CSO figures, a total of 7,157 people in Waterford signed on the register at the end of September, down from 7,528 at the end of August.
However in March, when the pandemic kicked in, 6,686 people in Waterford were signing on the Live Register.
This is a trend that is largely reflected in year-on-year figures. A total of 6,601 people signed on at the end of September 2019, equating to a rise of 9% in Waterford over the past 12 months.
