Men seen jumping out back of lorry parked just off Waterford-Dublin motorway

Gardai are investigating an incident in which a number of men were seen jumping out of the back of a container of a truck parked in a village just off the main Waterford-Dublin motorway.

The incident occurred at around 1.30pm on Monday at Knocktopher, Co Kilkenny. The men were seen jumping out the back of the  truck that had parked outside “a premises” in the village.

It is understood the men are still missing.

A Garda spokesperson told WaterfordNow.ie: “Gardaí are investigating possible immigration offences, that occurred this afternoon, October 19, 2020 at approximately 1.30pm.

“After arriving at a premises in Knocktopher, county Kilkenny, after coming into the country via Rosslare Port on Sunday, October 18, a number of males were observed alighting from a trailer.

“The trailer is currently detained for technical examination.

“This is an ongoing investigation and no further information available at this time.”
