Man (40) dies following tragic accident as horse bolts on county Waterford road

A man has died following a tragic incident on a county Waterford road yesterday evening.

It is understood the man (40), was thrown from a horse that had bolted close to main N25 Waterford- Cork road that runs through Dungarvan yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened shortly after 3.30pm between the Fairlane Roundabout and Dungarvan Fire Station on Shandon Road.

Emergency Services rushed to the scene but could not revive the man and his body was removed to University Hospital Waterford for a post mortem. The scene remained closed for a number of hours following the incident.

An investigation into the accident has been launched by gardai.
