Major protest against homelessness to march on City Hall next week
A major protest against homelessness is to take place next Thursday, December 5 at 5pm in John Roberts Square.
Organiser then plan to march on City Hall to hand in a document demanding that urgent action is taken to tackle the problem.
“This is not a political event, this is an event for everyone who cannot understand how our Government and politicians have failed to tackle this huge and growing problem,” organiser Sue Larkin said, adding that all are welcome to participate.
The march is part of nationwide campaign which has formed in recent months through a Facebook page which now has 65,000 members.
The march in Waterford will take simultaneously with a protest in Dublin.
“We decided we could not just sit idly by while this crisis moved into yet another winter,” Ms Larkin added.
“We hope that everyone who is else who has been appalled by the numbers of men, women and children without a permanent home, and in many cases, with no home at all, will come and support the protest.”
