Major expansion plans for well-known county Waterford supermarket

Plans to redevelop a supermarket in Dunmore are still on the table after the owners applied for an extension to an existing planning permission.

In 2015 William Power was granted planning permission by Waterford City and County Council to extend the Centra Supermarket on Dock Road in Dunmore East.

As part of these plans, Mr Power was to extend the 269mt sq store by an extra 148 mt sq as part of an extension over two stories.

The store itself being extended at ground floor level to the rear of the existing store, with a new lift added, new storage facilities and new offices.

Planning was also granted for the provision of a new pedestrian entrance onto Queens Terrace, a change to the main elevation on Dock Road including a new entrance, and the demolition of existing storage facilities.

The five-year planning period is due to expire in November. Mr Power has now applied for an extension to that period.

The local authority is expected to rule on the application by the start of September.
