LATEST: Waterford among 675 new cases of virus as six further deaths confirmed

A further six people have died after contracting the coronavirus as 675 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening.

It brings the overall death toll as a result of the virus to 1,896. There are now 59,434 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, according to the latest daily briefing from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).

The breakdown of the latest cases is as follows: 199 are in Dublin, 104 in Cork, 67 in Meath, 50 in Limerick, 41 in Kildare with the remaining 214 cases are spread across another 20 counties, including five in Waterford.
