UPDATE: More details emerge about today’s shocking shooting in Waterford city

More details have emerged about the shooting of a man in the city that has left him with serious gunshot wounds.
The victim, who is in his 30s, is currently being treated at University Hospital Waterford (UHW), where he was last described as being in a “critical condition”.
He was shot a number of times outside a premises near the Mount Suir Apartments on the Carrickphierish Road, Gracedieu, at around 2.15pm.
It is understood the victim was living in the area.
No arrests have been made, but it is understood gardaí have already obtained a description of the gunman.
Emergency services rushed to the scene where they initially treated the victim before he was rushed by ambulance to UHW.
Gardai sealed off the area for technical examination. Carrickphierish Road was closed off for hours as officers began house-to-house enquiries in the area.
Investigating gardai have appealed to pedestrians or motorists who may have been in the area near the Mount Suir Apartments between 2pm and 2.30pm today and who may have dashcam footage to contact the incident room at Waterford Garda Station on 051 305 300 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
