Grave application: Waterford parish seeks to develop new cemetery

A county Waterford parish is seeking permission to create a new graveyard as the current burial ground in use nears capacity.

The parish of Stradbally, Ballylaneen and Faha has lodged an application with Waterford City and Council to develop a new burial ground at Faha, Kilmacthomas.

The site is adjacent to the Church at Faha, which is located around halfway between Kilmacthomas and Lemybrien.

As well as seeking permission for new burial grounds, Fr Jeremiah Condon, the Parish Priest has also requested permission for a vehicular/pedestrian access and all ancillary works.

Submissions are currently being accepted by the local authority. A decision on the application is expected in the middle of next month.
