ELECTION 2020: Count 3 – Fianna Fáil’s Eddie Mulligan is eliminated
Fine Gael is facing a tense battle to see if it can claim the final seat in the Waterford constituency in General Election 2020.
All of the remaining candidates received in and around 500 transfers each from the eliminated candidates on the third count apart from Mayor of Waterford, Labour’s John Pratt, who took just 200 and now looks destined to fall short in this election.
Fianna Fáil’s Eddie Mulligan required a miracle to see him through to count four – it never came and he was eliminated. His 3,000-plus votes will now be distributed.
His party colleague remains Mary Bulter is still in the driving seat, but she is closely followed by Independent Matt Shanahan, with Green Party councillor Marc Ó Cathasaigh standing firm in fourth place with a cushion of about 500 votes over Fine Gael’s John Cummins.
Earlier Sinn Fein’s David Cullinane romped home with over 20,000 votes.
