Gardai swoop on organised crime gang suspected of spate of Waterford burglaries
Gardai have made what they are calling “a very significant arrest in relation to ongoing burglaries” in the Waterford area.
A house was broken into close to Carlow town late last night and as the gang were making their getaway in a silver car with English registration plates, they were intercepted by gardai.
The four men who were in the car were arrested at the scene by members of the National Organised Criminal Bureau and brought directly to Carlow Garda station.
A local garda spokesperson said: “These people would be members of what we consider a very organised criminal gang operating out of South Dublin.”
A fifth man has since been arrested. All five men are being questioned in stations in the Kilkenny/Carlow Garda division.
