Four houses targeted in spate of burglaries in Waterford City
Four houses were burgled in the early hours of yesterday evening in the Waterford City area.
One of the break-ins occurred in Ferrybank while the other three happened in the Dunmore Road area.
Gardai have said that a black Audi was seen acting suspiciously in the Dunmore Road area and subsequently left the area at speed.
This car could be connected to the three burglaries in the Dunmore Road area
The first house targeted was between 17.30 and 18.15 at Newrath, Ferrybank.
The alarm in the house was activated at 18.13 and a back window broken.
It is not known if anything is missing yet.
Gardaí received a report of a burglary at Park Lane, Maypark Lane, between 19.00-20.00, where they then discovered damage to a back window of the house, although nothing seems to be missing.
The second break-in in this area is believed to have happened between between 19.00 and 21.30 at Ballinakill.
The family living there returned home to discover that house had been ransacked and some cash stolen.
Meanwhile, at 19.43, Gardaí called to a premise at Hunters Wood, Ballinakill, following an alarm activation, where they found the front door open and the alarm panel had been ripped from the wall.
Unfortunately for the residents, the house has been ransacked and some jewellery was taken.
Meanwhile, following a drugs search carried out of an apartment in Canada House, Canada Street, last night, €5,000 worth of cocaine was seized.
The seizure by Waterford Divisional Drugs Unit was made following an extensive surveillance and enquiries into sale of controlled drugs.
A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
He was later released with file to be prepared for DPP
