Fire crews battle wildfires at popular Waterford coastal spot

Fire crews have rushed to battle a number of gorse fires that took hold at a popular county Waterford tourist spot this morning.

The local fire brigade were called upon early this morning to deal with the wildfires that took hold on lands at Saleens, close to the beach of the same name near Brownstown Head.

It is believed up to six separate fires had taken hold when the fire crews from Tramore Fire Station and Dunmore East Fire Station arrived.

WaterfordNow.ie understands the fires were extinguished at approximately 8.30am and the cause of the fires is being looked into.
