Fighting back: Well-known Waterford businesses benefit from new digital funding
Four local retailers have been awarded funding to strengthen their online visibility and offerings, which enables them to reach a wider customer base.
All of the companies were approved for funding through the Covid-19 Online Retail Scheme, which is administered by Enterprise Ireland, and could now receive up to €40,000.
The successful Waterford applicants are FitzGerald Menswear Limited; Ardkeen Superstores Limited; The Book Centre (Waterford); and Dublin Best Tile.
The funding is part of phase one of the scheme, which will see the successful applicants receive funding ranging from €16,000 to €40,000 to assist their business. The average grant value is €35,500.
The second phase of the €6.5 million scheme will be announced by Enterprise Ireland in the coming weeks and is set to benefit more than 180 businesses.
Speaking at the announcement of the first round of funding, Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar said: “The Government has put a wide range of financial measures in place to help businesses respond to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The Covid-19 Online Retail Scheme was introduced back in April to help indigenous Irish retailers to get better established online – which was essential to get through the crisis and is even more important now as they seek to expand their customer base for the future,” he added.
