Plan to build 45 apartments at Waterford city ‘eyesore’ that has become magnet for anti-social behaviour
A site where a Waterford city pub was destroyed by fire nine years ago and which has since become an eyesore could be demolished under ambitious plans to builds a new housing and retail development that could transform the area.
A planning application has been resubmitted to Waterford City and County Council requesting permission to demolish Ryan’s Bar at Kilbarry in the centre of Ballybeg, which has been boarded up for most of the past decade. The plans include the construction of brand new building of between two and four-stories to house 45 apartments and retail units.
As part of the plans by Waterford based company Dalira Ltd, the development would consist of 390 square metres of retail space at ground level, 25 two-bed apartments, 14 one-bed apartments and six studio apartments.
A decision on whether or not to grant planning permission is due by the end of the month.
