Covid-19: New Waterford volunteer group emerges from crisis to help those who need it most
The current coronavirus emergency has brought about a renewed sense of community spirit and out of this a Waterford volunteer group has been formed with the aim of helping those who need it most.
But the group has now grown from that and is quickly becoming a local coronavirus forum, a vital source for interaction and information, as well as people offering their time and services to help out the cause.
The ‘Covid 19 Waterford Community Care Action Group group was formed less than a week ago and so far has more than 6,000 members all willing to do their bit in this community effort.
People have been flocking to the Facebook page to offer their service and time, whether it be shopping or picking up prescriptions for the elderly or vulnerable or being able to direct people towards tradespeople, healthcare professionals, online school lessons, council information, groups volunteering their time, childminders etc.
The group has also set-up a helpline which can be called from 11am each morning. The number is 051 871 695.
The group can be found on Facebook at the following address – https://www.facebook.com/groups/2459703250913645/
