County Waterford supermarket given more time to complete expansion plans
A county Waterford supermarket has been granted an extension for its plans to expand its store.
In 2015 William Power was granted planning permission by Waterford City and County Council to extend the Centra Supermarket on Dock Road in Dunmore East.
Last month Mr Power requested a five-year extension to the planning permission to complete the expansion.
The council approved that request and now the owners can go ahead with the plans to extend the existing 269mt sq store by an extra 148 mt sq.
The store will now be extended at ground floor level to the rear of the existing store, with a new lift added, new storage facilities and new offices.
Under the plans, a new pedestrian entrance onto Queens Terrace will be created, as well as a new entrance off Dock Road. The build will see the demolition of existing storage facilities.
