County Waterford road closed following serious accident

A county Waterford road has been closed off to traffic following a serious accident shortly before lunchtime.

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a two car crash close to the grounds of St Molleran’s GAA on the Coolnamuck Road in Carrickbeg.

Gardai have closed off the R680, the back road from Carrick-on-Suir to Clonmel and diversions are in place from Carrickbeg.

It is understood that no one has been seriously injured in the accident, but local reports say one car is a complete write-off.

The road will be closed off for a number of hours.
