Carrick man cycles to victory again Down Under
Carrickbeg cycling hero Sam Bennett is quickly paying off his team’s investment in him after he racked up his second win of the year in just his second week of racing.
The 29-year-old won the Race Torquay in Victoria, Australia earlier this morning by racing away from the peloton.
The Deceuninck-QuickStep cyclist was delighted with the win, but modestly put it all down to the work of his teammates.
Bennett said: “It was a hard race, but at one point I asked the guys to make it a bit harder for everyone else, and they did exactly that and did the perfect job.”
The Carrick man now heads off full of confidence to Australia’s biggest one-day race, the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Race this weekend.
