Busted! €30,000 of cannabis found in Waterford house after man was arrested in city

Waterford gardai seized €30,000 of cannabis during a search of a house after they arrested a man in the city who was caught with a suspected quantity of cocaine.

The 28-year-old was arrested in the Ballybricken area of the city at around 4.35pm yesterday.

A local Garda spokesperson confirmed the suspect was arrested after he “fled on foot” when he was approached by members of the Drug Unit.

During the chase he dropped a bag, suspected of containing cocaine with a street value of just over €1,000.

The man was arrested and taken to Waterford Garda Station for questioning.

Gardai later discovered around €30,000 of cannabis resin during a follow-up search of a house in the Cherrymount area of the city.

The suspect was later released from custody. A file on the matter is currently being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
