Broken down carriage delays early morning Waterford train to Dublin
Waterford rail commuters were forced to wait more than 50 minutes on the platform this morning due to a mechanical issue with some of the train’s carriages.
The 7.05am Waterford to Dublin train was stuck in Plunkett Station while Irish Rail engineers dealt with a fault in one of the carriages which prevented the train from moving.
Engineers eventually removed some carriages and were able to resume the service but with greatly reduced capacity and close to 50 minutes behind schedule.
A statement from Irish Rail said: “This service is operating with reduced capacity due to a mechanical issue.
“This means less carriages. We had to take away the carriages affected by the mechanical issue so that the service could still operate.”
