BREAKING: Major breakthrough for North Quays project, Government commits €39m for new train station
Waterford will get a new railway station as part of the North Quays Development project after the Government committed to fund a brand new terminal.
Waterford TD David Cullinane today announced that the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government has agreed to fund the relocation of Waterford train station away from Rice Bridge and into the centre of the planned new €350 million North Quays development.
Deputy Cullinane (pictured below) said the agreement was made following a meeting with Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy earlier today.
He told WLRfm’s Deise Today programme: “It’s great news. It’s great news for Waterford.
“Obviously we’ve been pushing for this collectively for some time. I know Minister Halligan has been pushing this, the local Oireachtas members have been pushing it, and I just think it’s great news for Waterford to get this over the line.”
More details to follow.
