Bad parking job: ‘Make Way Day’ gets support of Waterford Council and local gardai

Waterford City and County Council has pledged its support to an awareness day for people with disabilities and mobility needs.

‘Make Way Day’ is a campaign that brings the disability and wider community together to consider the needs of people with disabilities in the public spaces we all share, such as footpaths and roads.

Led by the Disability Federation of Ireland, ‘Make Way Day’ is a campaign to raise awareness about the challenges persons with disabilities face from obstacles left on the footpath, such as bikes and bins, and poor driver behaviour, such as parking and when driving.

This year the local authority has gotten fully behind the campaign and is asking people to join a virtual meeting on local access issues at 11am tomorrow.

In addition, the local Garda Síochána are holding a day of enforcement for ‘Operation Enable’ to support Make Way Day.

For further information on the events or if you would like to join the virtual meeting, please contact Jemma Jacob at Waterford City and County Council at jjacob@waterfordcouncil.ie.
