All the ingredients for success: two local firms in line for Bord Bia awards
Waterford’s food industry could be set for a double boost as two iconic brands have been shortlisted for Bord Bia’s Food and Drink Awards 2019.
Dawn Meats and Flahavan’s are among 29 firms which will go forward to national finals in in the RDS Concert Hall on November 27 which will be hosted by Miriam O’Callaghan.
More than 300 industry leaders will attend the awards which recognise excellence within the food industry.
Dawn Meats from Grannagh, was established in 1980, and has been nominated in the Diversity and Inclusion award category.
The family-owned firm has over 7,300 people working for it in 22 different locations in Ireland, the UK, Europe and Asia.
Meanwhile, the country’s oldest private family food business, Flahavan’s from Kilmacthomas is up for two awards in Brand Marketing and Sustainability.
The company can trace its roots back seven generations to 1785 and today produces over 50 oat-based products and exports to 20 countries.
